"On the field" watercolor

This is a watercolor sketch for a children's book that my wife is writing. It is about a little girl who misses what people are saying around her. She gets frustrated by not hearing what they are saying to her. And everyone around her gets annoyed by being asked "what?" when they are around her. She becomes known as the "What?" girl. Slowly instead of saying "what?" she starts to say "whatever!". This changes when she sees an audiologist, and discovers that she has a hearing problem. The little girl is given hearing aids which helps to open up a world that she may have missing out of before.

How fun to be able to collaborate on a project with your wife! Sounds like it will be a really neat book.
