"The German" pencil

I have been reading about the events leading up to World War II. The thing that struck me was the quick militarization of the political parties which lead to fascism in Germany and Italy. Why would people be willing to give up personal rights and freedoms so easily?

Because WWI had been SO horrible. And recovery had been SO awful. And Hitler in Germany was making the trains run on time and promising (and delivering) all sorts of things. It was worth it to them to look the other way and give up things if it meant life could seem mostly normal again.
Sorry. I'm guessing the question was mostly rhetorical but I couldn't help myself...history major.
Nice picture, by the way. I'm impressed daily by all of the art you post.
