"The Astronomer" watercolor

This morning I read an article about the astronomer who discovered the moons of Mars. His name is Asaph Hall. In 1877 Asaph spent several consecutive nights watching the planet Mars at the US Naval Observatory. It is while doing this that he observed two objects which appeared to be moving around Mars. He named the moons after the sons of the Greek god Ares (the Greek version of Mars). Phobos (fear) and Deimos (dread) are both irregular in shape, an now astronomers believe that they are asteroids which were captured by Mars orbit.
