"facial muscle study" pencil

Today I was discussing forensic artists with my students. These are artists who do witness description portraits and post mortem reconstruction. I wanted to show them that what is under the skin effects what is on the surface. So when I came home I pulled out my old anatomy book from college and started thumbing through it. This is a sketch from one of the pictures showing the muscles on the side of the face.
